State Programs Officials Positions

Hockey NSW Talent Pathway and Performance programs aim to lead the way in delivering positive experiences that balance development, wellbeing, and performance on and off the field while promoting the PRIDE culture.

Each year, Hockey NSW may select up to 40 State Teams to compete at the Australian National Field & Indoor Hockey Championships/Carnivals. Each team has Coaches, a Manager and a Physiotherapist and generally,  each event may include Coach Developer/s and a Wellbeing Manager.

Hockey NSW selection panels, with greater independence, are appointed across the year for a range of events including State Championships and Camps. Hockey NSW Umpires and Technical Officials are appointed for State run events. Umpires and Technical Officials are also appointed through Hockey Australia for National events.

Hockey NSW therefore relies on a broad pool of expertise for selection of Talent and State Squads as well as delivery of State Teams programs and, with the support of the hockey community, mobilises:

  • Manager Selection (1 state-wide)
  • Coordinator Selection Event (1 per event)
  • Selection Panel members (4 - 6 per event)
  • State Teams Coaches (1-2 per State Team)
  • State Teams Managers (1 per State Team)
  • Coach Developers (1 – 2 per National Championship/Carnival)
  • Physiotherapists (1 per State Team)
  • Talent / State Squad Camp Coaches (5-10 per event)
  • Manager Wellbeing (1 state-wide)
  • Coordinator State Teams (1 state-wide)
  • Performance Support (as required)

Athletes will be challenged and supported on and off the field to develop holistically across 5 key areas (technical, tactical, physical, mental, personal excellence); contribute to team performance; and enjoy their experience: https://www.hockeynsw.com.au/performance/pathway-to-2032/#accordion_content_1635

A focus of Hockey NSW is to establish a positive team culture with an emphasis on well-being. Hockey NSW values and supports our coaches, managers, selectors, coach developers, physiotherapists and support staff who take up the exciting challenge of leading our NSW teams.

Hockey NSW have a zero tolerance stance when it comes to Code of Conduct breaches for its athletes and officials.
