Hockey NSW Introduces New Regional Hubs Initiative

Published Tue 16 May 2023

Hockey NSW has completed its first round of Regional Hub meetings with Chief Executive Officer, Emma Highwood, Manager-Community Projects, Corrina Baldock, and GM-Business Development, Richard Griffiths, attending meetings in Newcastle, Sydney, Illawarra, Dubbo, and Inverell. All 27 associations were well represented by delegates who attended either in person or via Teams.

The Regional Hubs across the state have been set up to provide a vehicle for associations to collaborate with Hockey NSW on key opportunities and challenges in their respective areas whilst hearing firsthand the strategic priorities and operational initiatives of the states governing body. Topics covered off at the meetings included participation targets and trends, State Championships, School programs, Centre of Development, Umpiring, Hook in 2 Hockey and facility development.

The Regional Hubs and their respective associations include:

The Regional Hubs initiative is part of the wider Hockey NSW Strategic Plan and new ways of working with our associations. It also allows associations to share ideas that may be used in other areas to assist the sport to grow and develop.

“I would like to thank all associations for their attendance at our first Regional Hub meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet with our dedicated volunteer base who ensure community hockey is delivered each year and I personally took many insights out of the meetings. I look forward to continuing the momentum throughout the year and welcome any feedback on how we can continue to consult and collaborate with our key stakeholders to help enhance our sport,” said Chief Executive Officer, Emma Highwood.

The Regional Hub meeting will resume monthly with face-to-face meetings scheduled for later in the year.
