Hockey NSW Metro Academy Program to Launch in Late October
Published Wed 14 Oct 2026
Hockey NSW is pleased to announce the launch of its Metro Academy Program, with training set to commence in late October 2026.
The program will provide U16 and U18 state squad members with access to weekly specialist individual skill-development training in a structured development environment. Sessions will strengthen athletes’ technical capabilities and support their broader tactical, physical and personal development. The program will complement Hockey NSW’s existing regional academy partnerships and create a more connected pathway for athletes across metropolitan and regional NSW.
Delivered by experienced coaches and performance staff, the Metro Academy Program will provide targeted, position-relevant support focused on individual skill development. The weekly training environment will complement squad-based preparation while supporting the ongoing development and monitoring of U16 and U18 state squad athletes.
“The Metro Academy Program is an important step in creating greater consistency and connection across the NSW athlete pathway,” a Hockey NSW spokesperson said. “It will provide metropolitan athletes with a high-quality development experience while aligning with the work already being delivered through our Regional Academies of Sport.”
“Our aim is to support athletes to develop at the right time, in the right environment, and with a clear understanding of the standards and behaviours required as they move through the pathway.”
Further information, including program schedules, venues and athlete participation details, will be communicated directly to selected athletes and families.
