New Director Appointed At 2021 Hockey NSW AGM

Hockey NSW is pleased to announce that Simon Babbage has joined the Hockey NSW Board after being elected alongside Bianca Broadhurst at our AGM this past Saturday. 

Simon joins the Hockey NSW Board with extensive experince in the finance industry, and also in the public sector. 

In 2017, Simon was appointed Chief of Staff to the Minister for Planning and Housing in New South Wales. In this role, Simon was responsible for advising the Minister, Cabinet and the Premier on housing, real estate and planning matters across New South Wales. As a senior advisor, Simon was successful in building strong links within both the elected and executive Government.

In 2019, Simon successfully established Malvern Hill Partners - a multidisciplinary property advisory firm providing strategic advice on property related matters to government, corporates and the funds management industry.

Throughout his career, he has had considerable board level experience including:

  • Executive Director for HSBC in Australia
  • Director on a number of companies within the Westpac Group – including Westpac Equities Limited, BT Equity Finance Limited and Westpac Broking Limited
  • Board Director on the Australian Payments Clearing Association
  • Board Member of the Reserve Bank of Australia ‘s Payments System Council

Simon’s involvement in Hockey is through his two daughters who play school, club and representative hockey in Sydney. In recent years, Simon has maintained an involvement with both the Briars and St George-Randwick clubs and provided advice and guidance to St George-Randwick in their recent successful attempts to gain New South Wales Government funding to upgrade their Kyeemagh facilities.

Simon hopes to support Hockey NSW in key challenge areas such as infrastructe, participation growth and Government relations.

In addtion to Simon's election, Bianca Broadhurst was also re-elected to the Board for another term. 

After being put forward by Lithgow Hockey Association, Wally Gaynor was also made a Hockey NSW Life Member during the AGM.
