NSW Talent Leads the Charge as Arnott Returns for Hockeyroos’ Euro and UK Mission
Published Wed 14 May 2025
The Hockeyroos have unveiled a strong squad for the final leg of the FIH Pro League Season Six, with a strong NSW presence leading the charge through Europe and the UK.
Head Coach Katrina Powell has named a talented group of athletes for the tour, including the much-anticipated return of Willow Tree’s own Alice Arnott.
The 24-year-old forward made waves at the start of 2024, bursting onto the international scene with a breakout performance in the lead-up to the Paris Olympics.
Arnott notched up 8 goals in 22 appearances before injury forced her to the sidelines. Now fit and firing, she’s ready to pull on the green and gold once again.
“It’s a bit of a relief to see my name finally on there,” Arnott said, reflecting on her journey back to the top level.
Joining her in the squad are fellow NSW standouts: Jocelyn Bartram, Greta Hayes, Alana Kavanagh, Zoe Newman, Kaitlin Nobbs, Courtney Schonell, Maddi Smith, Grace Stewart, Mariah Williams, Abby Wilson, Grace Young, and Lexie Pickering.
Pickering's selection is particularly special. Born and raised on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the rising star was set to debut in front of a home crowd during the Sydney leg of the Pro League earlier this year, but a last-minute training injury put her dream on hold. Three months later, she’s finally earned her chance.
Hockey NSW is incredibly proud to see such a large contingent of NSW-born athletes named in the national squad, a reflection of the strength and depth of talent being developed across the state.
The Hockeyroos kick off their tour in Amsterdam against Olympic champions the Netherlands. They’ll then face India and England in London before wrapping up the season in Berlin against Germany.
All Hockeyroos and Kookaburras matches will be broadcast live and free on 7plus, giving Aussie fans the perfect chance to support their teams from home.
