Talent Pathway Announcement

Hockey NSW is delighted to release its new Talent Pathway strategic framework to our community.

Key objectives of the "Hockey NSW Talent Pathway to 2032" include:
1. Align with Hockey Australia’s National player development model 2. Position PRIDE Teams, culture and values as an integral part of Hockey NSW’s Talent Pathway 3. Promote holistic athlete development, well-being, inclusion and positive experiences 4. Broaden the base for talent identification and talent development programs 5. Increase the pool, diversity, equity, independence and capability of Hockey NSW’s Talent Pathway coaches, selectors, managers and officials 6. Target initiatives that optimise Hockey NSW’s Talent Pathway through valued partnerships

The strategic framework covers several important Talent Pathway ecosystem drivers including Athletes; Coaches; Program Optimisation; Selection & Competition; Leadership & Culture and Partnerships & Innovation. Most importantly, the strategy will support achievement of Hockey NSW’s whole of organisation outcomes, positive culture and sustainable future.

Hockey NSW President Adriana Care is delighted to share the Talent Pathway to 2032 with the hockey community.
“The Hockey NSW Board committed to implementing all recommendations from the Independent Review last year, and completion of this strategy is an important milestone in that process,” says Care.

“I would like to thank everyone that has been involved in the Pathway engagement process, your voice matters, and in particular congratulate the Implementation Committee on delivering a high-quality, comprehensive framework.”

Hockey NSW CEO Emma Highwood welcomes the new strategic framework, and is looking forward to delivering exciting initiatives and opportunities over the next decade.
“I’m keen to begin working with the Board and my new senior leadership team, as well as the wider staff group on implementing this new Pathway strategy across the organisation,” says Highwood.
“This framework provides a solid foundation which we can build on for future success, while also balancing the need for a positive culture of well-being, inclusion and enjoyment.”
After many hours of engagement, bench-marking and consideration, Clare Prideaux is pleased she has been able to complete an inclusive assessment of the Pathway and delivered a clear strategic framework, with eyes on a home Olympics in 2032.
“The Hockey NSW Talent Pathway to 2032 provides a clear strategy that addresses areas for improvement, identifies new opportunities and aligns with Hockey Australia’s 2032 High Performance Pathway plan.” says Prideaux.
“It has also been developed to promote an inclusive environment that enables talent identification and development, well-being, progression and performance while contributing to whole of sport outcomes.”

The updated framework has been developed in consultation with our partners, including Hockey Australia, and has been informed by feedback from the community, as well as key learnings from pilot work undertaken at selection events and the recent Nationals in Newcastle and Cairns.

The next phase of the process will include working with key partners to determine a collaborative rollout plan and execution approach over the coming months and years.
