The new combined Active and Creative Kids Voucher program is here

Published Mon 29 Jan 2024

The Active Kids and Creative Kids voucher programs closed on 31 January 2024. From 1 February 2024, these were replaced with a new combined Active and Creative Kids Voucher program.

With this change, you are required to apply for the new Active and Creative Kids program to accept the vouchers even if you have applied under the previous scheme.

About the new program

  • Registered club will be able to accept vouhers for eligible active or creative activities.
  • There are two $50 vouchers for eligible school-aged children to use throughout the year.
  • Families can find all registered clubs via the search tool on the Service NSW website.
  • Vouchers will be available to those receiving Family Tax benefits only.

How to apply

Click here to access the Service NSW site for information regarding applying and to commence your application.

Please note provider applications require a valid ABN.

Sport NSW has advised they have been alerted to a concern from some sporting organisations regarding the process to register as a provider and have been in contact with the Office of Sport and Services NSW to explain the issue and work to find a solution.

The challenge that some are facing, is that as part of the new registration process, applications are being declined if the person making the application does not match the person(s) that is “attached” to the ABN Register with the Australian Taxation Office. Unless the organisation can determine the person that is currently registered to the ABN Register and have them provide a Letter of Authority, or have them change the “attached” person to the current responsible person, then they must contact the ATO and they will post forms that need to be completed to make the change.

The process to do this may take several weeks and considering that the new Active Kids Voucher will be available from 1 February 2024, it is important that clubs are registered by then.

If you encounter an issue with the ABN as referenced above, please let Hockey NSW know. Sport NSW is working to find a solution with the Office of Sport and Services NSW and our team will communicate this through to you when available (likely after 8 January). We recommend however that you commence the process with the ATO to change the person on the ABN Register ASAP if needed.
