COVID-19 UPDATE - POTENTIAL RETURN TO TRAINING

Over the weekend, the NSW Government announced that it would be easing certain COVID-19 restrictions around the State from Friday May 15th. This includes allowing outdoor gatherings of 10 people. As a result of this, it is anticipated that some hockey training activities in restricted numbers may have the potential to proceed earlier than our original proposed date of July 1st.

Since this announcement, Hockey NSW along with the NSW Office of Sport have been working hard to produce guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe return to sport in adherence with the soon to be released revised Public Health Order.

While restrictions will be eased on Friday, there is still some work to be done to ensure that we can get back on the pitch safely.

There are a number of details and processes still to be finalised and put in place with Clubs and Associations before a return to formal training should commence.

Hockey NSW will now work with the relevant authorities such as the NSW Office of Sport to finalise these and communicate our Return to Hockey Guidelines for members, Clubs, Associations and venue operators as soon as possible.

Until then, Hockey NSW strongly recommends that Clubs and Associations hold off on organising any immediate formal training sessions under the eased restrictions. We anticipate we will be in a position to issue the Guidelines within the next week.

We acknowledge that everyone will be buoyed and excited about the prospect of returning to hockey, but to ensure that we get to the point of competitive hockey in the near future, we need everyone to be patient and allow Hockey NSW to get the relevant information and provide guidance on conducting hockey activities safely for all participants and without breaking any applicable laws.

Participants are reminded that registrations are open for the 2020 season and that anybody who is registered with Hockey NSW before July 18th will also have their Hockey NSW fees covered for the 2021 season. You should register as normal through your local Club or Association. Their details can be found here - https://www.hockeynsw.com.au/get-involved/find-somewhere-to-play/
