Clint Mallett Celebrates his 60th Consecutive Year as a Hockey Player for East Lismore Hockey Club

Published Thu 25 May 2023

Hockey NSW joins the hockey community in celebrating Clint Mallett's 60th year as a hockey player for East Lismore Hockey Club, which is part of the Far North Coast (FNC) Association. Clint hasn't missed a hockey season in his 60 years since joining as a junior for East Lismore Hockey club in 1963.

Clint isn't just a life member of FNC Hockey and East Lismore Hocky but is also the Secretary for FNC Hockey and has been instrumental to the organisation's general management and success.

"Every Saturday he works around the complex, doing maintenance and making sure the complex is at its highest standard for all that roll through those gates. Then he gets changed for his game, still running around in C grade mentoring the younger players. He umpires and attends all our junior trainings, passing on his knowledge of 60 years. Friday nights he runs the canteen so the B grade teams have canteen facilities.

Clint turns 70 this year and should be winding down commitments in his life, but he is the heart of FNC hockey and because of him we are still standing strong.

Clint’s love and passion for hockey is second to none, and his hard work, dedication and passion deserves to be acknowledged", said Sonya Buchanan, Secretary at East Lismore Hockey Club.

Clint has represented Hockey NSW at the Masters Championships since the 2000's. In 2017, Clint and his daughter, Kara Parish - member of the East Lismore Hockey Exec Committee and FNC Rep Committee, played in the same Masters team together.

"He has dedicated his entire life to our community Hockey.

He has held every position on the FNC Board and East Lismore Hockey Club. He is the person who opens and locks up week in and week out, as well as working a full-time job", said Kara.

To celebrate Clint's amazing 60 year anniversary and service to FNC and East Lismore Hockey Club, the community hosted a surprise celebration on the weekend.

Hockey NSW CEO, Emma Highwood, congratulates Clint on this fantastic milestone and thanks him for his generous time spent volunteering for the hockey community.

"On behalf of Hockey NSW, I would like to congratulate Clint on this fantastic milestone. 60 years as a registered hockey player - what an achievement! I would also like to thank Clint for his generous time spent volunteering for the hockey community. Without volunteers like Clint, Hockey wouldn't be the sport that it is today", said Emma.

Clint was awarded a Special Volunteer Recognition Award by Hockey NSW as part of their 2023 Volunteer Recognition Awards during Volunteer Week, winning a double pass to a NSW Pride home game.

Hockey NSW would like to congratulate Clint and thank him for his invaluable support as both a player and volunteer within the hockey community.
