Hockey One Returns Home to Olympic Park

Published Wed 06 May 2026

The NSW Pride will return to the iconic Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre for two major home matchdays during the 2026 One Active Hockey One League season, marking the competition’s return to the venue for the first time since 2023.

The Hockey One League today unveiled its 2026 fixture, confirming four home matchdays for New South Wales across October and November, with two to be played in Sydney and two in Newcastle at the Newcastle International Hockey Centre.

Both the NSW Pride Men’s and Women’s teams enter the new season off the back of Bronze Medal finishes in 2025 and will begin their campaigns on the road against the League’s newest franchise, the Melbourne Cobras, on Sunday 11 October at the Melbourne Sports Centre in Parkville.

The Pride will then host their opening home matchday in Newcastle on Friday 16 October, taking on long-time rivals the Brisbane Blaze.

A week later, the teams will make their long-awaited return to Sydney Olympic Park, the venue synonymous with Australia’s memorable hockey success at the 2000 Olympic Games. The Pride will host the Perth Thundersticks on Saturday 24 October, with the Thundersticks Women entering the season as reigning Hockey One champions.

The NSW sides will then travel to South Australia to face the Adelaide Fire on Saturday 31 October before returning home to Olympic Park for another blockbuster Sydney fixture against the Canberra Chill on Saturday 7 November. The clash will mark the first Hockey One matchday ever hosted at Olympic Park during the competition’s seven-year history.

The regular season concludes with two away trips and a final homecoming in Newcastle. The Pride will face 2025 Men’s champions HC Melbourne in Parkville on Friday 13 November before wrapping up the regular season against the Tassie Tigers in Newcastle on Friday 20 November.

A bye week will follow before the Hockey One Finals Series, with the host location still to be announced.

Hockey NSW CEO Carolyn Campbell said the return to Sydney Olympic Park presents an exciting opportunity for both hockey fans and the wider sporting community.

“The Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre is the iconic home of hockey in NSW, and the NSW Pride squads are packed full of some of the biggest talents in world hockey,” Campbell said.

“We’re really proud to present two Hockey One matchdays this year at the state’s premier hockey venue, and we think the experience is going to be fast, exciting, unmissable entertainment.”

Campbell also praised Newcastle’s continued support of the competition after first hosting Hockey One in 2024.

“The Newcastle International Hockey Centre, and the Newcastle community, have really embraced Hockey One and the NSW Pride since they first hosted a matchday back in 2024,” she said.

“Hockey NSW is delighted to now double the delivery of Hockey One at Newcastle this year in appreciation and acknowledgment of the fantastic venue and crowds.”

Membership and ticketing information for the 2026 Hockey One League season will be released in the coming weeks.
