Expression of Interest – Metro North & Metro South Academy Coaching Roles

Hockey NSW Pathways & Performance

Hockey NSW is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and motivated coaches to support the delivery of the Metro North and Metro South Academy Programs as part of the Hockey NSW Pathways & Performance athlete pathway.

The Metro Academy Programs provide a structured Daily Performance Environment (DPE) for identified pathway athletes, complementing the Regional Academy of Sport network and providing a consistent development opportunity for metropolitan athletes.

The programs are designed to challenge, prepare, connect and develop athletes, with coaching aligned to the Hockey NSW and Hockey Australia technical direction and broader athlete pathway.

Positions Available

Expressions of Interest are invited for the following roles:

  • Head Coaches – Paid Position
  • Assistant Coaches – Paid Position
  • Apprentice Coaches

Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions will receive a paid honorarium for their involvement in the program.

Apprentice Coach positions are designed to provide developing coaches with the opportunity to gain experience within the Hockey NSW Pathways & Performance environment, work alongside experienced coaches and further develop their coaching capability.

Program Dates & Commitment

The Metro Academy Programs will be delivered across two training blocks, with coaches generally required for one 1.5-hour training session per week.

Block 1: 19 October – 11 December 2026
U16 Super Camp: 12–13 December 2026 – coach involvement desirable

Block 2: 1 February – 25 March 2027
Academy Games: 19–21 March 2027 – compulsory attendance

U18 Super Camp: 17–18 April 2027 – coach involvement desirable

Coaches should also be aware that some weekend work and travel may be required as part of the broader Academy program.
